ASHBY police came to the rescue of a blind dog.

The pet, named Ralphy, has managed to escape from his home.

But a group of youngsters spotted him and kept him safe until the police arrived.

Ashby police explained what happened via their Neighbourhood Link newsletter.

It read: “Meet Ralphy, our resident escape artist, who had a little adventure on the streets of Ashby.

“Whilst out on patrol, Ashby Officer 6633 noticed a group of children gathered around a dog who appeared frightened and unsure of his surroundings.

“Thanks to the quick thinking and kindness of the young residents on the road, Ralphy was kept safe while enquiries were made.

“With some great teamwork (and a bit of sniff‑detective work!), Ralphy’s owner was soon located, and the pair were happily reunited.

“Ralphy is blind, which explains why the whole situation was a little ruff for him — but thanks to the care shown by local residents, he stayed safe until help arrived.

“A huge thank you to everyone who helped look after Ralphy and showed true community spirit.

“This was a tail‑waggingly good example of people coming together to do the right thing.”
