THE Emporium in Coalville - one of the UK’s last remaining superclubs - has completed a major refurbishment worth more than £350,000.

It means the family-run venue continues to invest in local nightlife, jobs and the wider community at a time when venues across the country are closing in record numbers.

The upgrade includes a new VIP room and bar above the main room, complete with its own DJ booth and private balcony area.

It has also installed large LED screens both outside and inside the venue, supporting event promotion and upgraded production visuals.

A new lighting system has also been introduced, controlled via a specialist terminal in the main room.

One of the most striking changes is a full refurbishment of the venue’s legendary Red Room, with the DJ booth moved to the centre to create a 360-degree experience, surrounded by a dramatic ‘cage’ of red lasers.

The Emporium is led by its Director, Marcus Holland, who runs the business alongside his family.

He said: “Nightlife has taken a real hit in recent years.

“With rising living costs and venues closing across the UK, we know how easy it is for places like this to disappear, especially in towns outside big city centres.

“But we’ve been here since 1995 and we’re still here because we’ve always believed The Emporium is more than just a nightclub.

"It’s part of Coalville’s identity and it plays a role in bringing people together.

“We’re a family-run business and we employ local people, so investing back into the venue is something we take seriously. We want to keep improving, keep creating opportunities and keep giving Coalville something positive to be proud of.”

Alongside its headline dance music nights across trance, house, techno and drum and bass, The Emporium hosts tribute events, community celebrations and family-friendly wrestling on selected Sundays.

Established in 1995, The Emporium has built a reputation as one of the UK’s best-known dance music venues.

It has hosted global names including Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Lisa Lashes, Hannah Wants and Sam Divine.

With a capacity of 2,000, the venue attracts visitors from across the Midlands and beyond, including international clubbers.

The Emporium says that it provides employment opportunities for local people across bar work, event staff, DJs and door teams. The venue is also keen to support the next generation of talent, encouraging up and coming and bedroom DJs to get in touch, with regular opportunities to step up and play in front of a packed dance floor.

It also runs its own programme of events throughout the year and also works closely with external promoters, offering support from its in-house marketing and social media team.

One of the club’s external promoters, added: “The Emporium has always been a venue with real character and history, but what stands out now is the commitment to keeping it relevant.

“The refurb has genuinely elevated the production and the overall experience for both artists and crowds.“As a promoter, that matters. The layout changes, the upgraded visuals and the flexibility of the space mean you can deliver something that feels big and special, even outside a major city.

“The team are supportive, they understand the culture and they want events to succeed. That’s why it continues to attract serious talent and loyal crowds.”
